Staying focused when there are multiple distractions can be difficult. There will always be things that pull your attention away. Develop systems to address those distractions to truly focus on the task at hand.
I know a lot of people that struggle through their work thinking the whole time that they should really be with their family. Then they have a hard time enjoying the time with their family because they feel they should be working. But focusing 100% on what you are doing is the only way to consistently accomplish important tasks. Instead of spending time at home thinking about work and time at work thinking about home, realize that it is best to focus solely on work when you are at work and solely on your family when you are spending quality time with your family.
When there is something important that comes up, it is easy to get distracted and lose focus on what you are doing. Develop a rule that you will either spend the time to do it now or write it down on the calendar to do at a later time. By making sure you address those important things that come up, you will find that they distract less and you are able to devote the proper amount of time to them.
Regardless of what goals you have, develop systems that work for you in order to stay focused and improve the results. I encourage you to find ways to manage distractions. By doing that you will be able to focus on what you doing and will surprised at the increase in quality you get.
